We recently spoke with Steve Graff, the Director of Mountain Operations at Deer Valley Resort, to talk about what the resort is providing for their guests this summer and what we can look forward to in the future.
Q: What is Deer Valley Resort working on right now?
A: Our goal for this year was to create trails that are truly enjoyable for our guests to experience. This summer, we are debuting an intermediate level trail with three additional miles and we’re also beginning construction on other new projects, including Tsunami, which is a black diamond rated trail. That will open in stages as it is completed and we’re hoping to have that completed by late summer.
Q: Any hiking trail you personally recommend?
A: There are four hiking-only trails at Deer Valley: Ontario, Silver Lake, Red Cloud, and Sultan Out and Back. Silver Lake is definitely one of the more popular trails with our guests, but if you are looking for a more peaceful and secluded hiking experience, Red Cloud trail is perfect for that.
Q: Any other news you’d like to share about Deer Valley’s summer?
A: Yes, we are going to continue our Twilight Ride series, which we started up last year to help accommodate our guests that work 9-5 jobs and struggled to find the time to hit the trails. It turned out to be incredibly popular so we are bringing it back! Starting in July, we will stay open late every Wednesday night from 4:00-8:00 p.m. This also runs in conjunction with the free concert series at Snow Park, so get a group together, come up for a ride, and then regroup for some great tunes on the mountainside.
Q: What will Deer Valley be working on for next year?
A: We’ve already started to design the next phase for 2018. We’re going to continue down this path and design new mountain bike trail expansions as well as a trail on Bald Eagle Mountain, which will create a continuation of our flow trails.
There’s plenty of excitement going on at Deer Valley Resort this summer, so come up and begin to create your own Deer Valley moments!
