“The Lodge, and our renowned Mountain Lobby, have always exhibited a warm and inviting place for our guests to relax after a day on the trails, or a great place to read a book in front of the wood-burning fireplace,” said Russ Olsen, CEO of Stein Collection. “We are thrilled to have the refresh complete and we are excited to welcome guests to ‘Stein’s living room’ where we will continue to set the gold standard in luxury accommodations, amenities, and services.”
Since construction began in April, the Mountain Lobby has been refreshed without losing any of its charm and feel that it is so well-known for. In addition to a total makeover with new wall textures, fresh paint and stain, the lodge has also installed new custom Axminster carpet of the highest quality to provide a rich, warm ambience. New original artwork and enhanced lighting, along with new and reupholstered furniture throughout, raises the bar of elegance and luxury comfort. Finally, a newly designed, custom Concierge desk that is handcrafted by local artisans graces the northern entrance of the Mountain Lodge – further enhancing what was already considered one of the world’s finest alpine lodge experiences.

PARK CITY, Utah (November 30, 2020) – Executive Pastry Chef Jeremy Garcia leads a team of gingerbread connoisseurs to construct this year’s much-anticipated gingerbread display at Stein Eriksen Lodge. Guests will have the opportunity to see the antique-style gingerbread creation, adorned with a dozen solid-chocolate nutcrackers all made in-house by our talented pastry team. The sugary exhibit will be placed in the Mountain Lodge by Friday, December 4, 2020. As part of the annual tradition, the display will be accompanied by the ornate 32-foot-tall decorated Christmas tree as part of the Lodge’s festive holiday décor.
Chef Garcia continues this 19-year gingerbread tradition that Lodge guests look forward to every December. This year’s classic design stands 7 feet tall and 3 feet wide, featuring 45 pounds of gingerbread including nearly 60 pounds of royal icing, 15 pounds of fondant, 12 handmade, solid chocolate nutcrackers weighing in at just under 3 pounds each, and a combined total pound of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. The construction of the gingerbread display and chocolate nutcrackers was created over the course of four weeks by a skilled corps of gingerbread professionals, led by Chef Garcia and Chef Zane Holmquist, VP of Food & Beverage Operations and Corporate Chef. Between the engineering and culinary teams, the display requires approximately 100 hours over the course of four weeks to design, bake, produce, erect, and decorate.
“We are so grateful to bring our visionary gingerbread displays to life every holiday season – this one in particular,” said Chef Garcia. “Celebrating traditions is so meaningful for families, friends, and our guests, and we hope this year’s treasured touches and details will remind all of fond childhood memories and provide an opportunity to connect with younger generations as they create new special moments together.”
Guests are encouraged to linger and search for the small, hidden gingerbread cookies on the display, including a star, dinosaur, gingerbread man, Christmas tree, snowman, turkey, heart shape, and pig. Former gingerbread presentations have included movie scenes from Star Wars, Peanuts, Frozen, Despicable Me 2, and Harry Potter, and intricate models of a retro-styled rocket ship, Norwegian Viking ship, whimsical carousel, the Eiffel Tower, and the Empire State Building.
This year’s gingerbread creation will be available for all guests to see in the Mountain Lodge starting December 4, 2020. For more information on the Stein Eriksen Lodge gingerbread display or the Lodge's holiday specials, dining menus, and holiday images, please contact Jessica Turner at (435) 604-2793 or jturner@steinlodge.com. PARK CITY, Utah (February 4, 2020) – A new spirit is flowing at Stein Eriksen Lodge, Utah’s only Forbes Five-Star resort and spa. Produced by Park City’s own Alpine Distilling, nearly 200 private-label bottles of aquavit await lodging guests at their next fine dining experience or après-ski stop.
“We are thrilled to unveil a unique spirit that is true to Stein Eriksen Lodge’s proud Norwegian heritage,” said Stein Eriksen Lodge Vice President of Food & Beverage & Corporate Chef, Zane Holmquist. “Alpine Distilling has been such an innovative partner, and we are grateful to be able to create a brand new product together for locals and visitors alike to experience.”
Traditionally native to Scandinavia, aquavit – from the Latin “water of life” – is distilled from grain or potatoes and flavored with herbs, predominantly caraway or dill seed. The Stein Eriksen Lodge label consists of wheat and barley produced in oak barrels and flavored with global components of European caraway seeds, Moroccan orris root, Egyptian coriander, Indian cumin, and American orange peel. The spirit presents as “liquid gold” in color with an incredibly beautiful aroma and a deep, complex taste profile. The aquavit maintains a balanced, soft mouthfeel best served as a chilled shot or in one of the property’s signature cocktails.
The limited edition of Stein Eriksen Lodge aquavit is currently available at the Lodge while supplies last. The future of the spirit will live on through its original oak barrel, as it will be used to age an exclusive Stein Eriksen Lodge beer produced by Red Rock Brewing. Details on the beer product’s release will be announced soon.

PARK CITY, Utah (January 1, 2020) – Stein Eriksen Lodge, Utah’s only Forbes Five-Star resort and spa and designated one of Forbes’ Most Luxurious Hotels in the World, will refresh some of its key Main Lodge common areas and public spaces for enhanced comfort and ambiance. When the 2019-2020 ski season comes to a close, the transformative revamp will begin this April and be completed by mid-summer of 2020.
“We’re always looking for innovative ways to improve and create comfortable, welcoming gathering spaces for our guests and groups of every size,” said Russ Olsen, CEO of Stein Collection. “We look forward to our plans being unveiled and enjoyed later this summer.”
A versatile patio covering will be installed with built-in lights and heat, creating a comfortable outdoor atmosphere for any time of day. The Main Lodge will see fresh paint, all new wood and wainscoting refinishing, a new Concierge desk, upgrades to all five Grand Suites, enhanced lighting, and all new furniture, carpet, and window treatments for an elevated experience in luxury.
Renovation efforts will only impact the center walkway and pass-through area of the Main Lodge. The enhancement project will not infringe on family spaces, restaurants, outdoor lawn and decks, or Mountain Lodge main meeting venue event spaces.
