MEET YOUR WELLNESS HOSTS
Whitney has been teaching mindfulness meditation and yoga for 17 years. She has been specifically practicing meditation under the (Mindfulness) Vipassana Theravada lineage for 19 years. Her meditation path deepened while pursuing her PhD in Clinical Psychology. She decided that mindfulness and meditation were the modality she wanted to research over any other form of psychotherapy. She left her PhD to focus primarily on mindfulness, dharma, and meditation, which led her to undertake a series of long retreats as well deepen her connections with teachers in the mindfulness field. Whitney has completed an intensive two-year dharma training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, as well as a teacher training at the Mindfulness Institute and a 500-hour yoga training through Prajna. She lived in India in a Tibetan monastery and has meditated for over 350 days in intensive Vipassana retreat. She has attended three additional 500-hour yoga teacher trainings, but considers Prajna Yoga her main practice as it integrates meditation into Asana.
As an Anusara Elements Yoga Teacher, Emily dove into the practice of yoga after her final career-ending knee injury in beach volleyball. Her mat became home for her in a time of confusion, grief, and fear of where her life was heading next. The practice of Anusara Yoga, her teachers, and her community have continued to heal her definition of self and have taught her compassion and respect for her physical body. Emily's goal is to pass on the lineage of alignment based yoga, help her students find stillness in the fluctuations of the mind, and to come home to a deepened awareness of themselves. She has over 300 hours of Anusara Yoga and Ayurveda training and has continued her education at California College of Ayurveda.
