Local Chef Cooks Up Extensive 2012 Summer Volunteer Schedule
Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley's Chef Zane Holmquist Gives Back Through Community Outreach
Park City, UT (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley's Executive Chef, Zane Holmquist, is scheduled to participate in an impressive lineup of charitable and community outreach programs over the next several months. The events range from fun and educational to considerable fundraising efforts for important causes.
To start the summer off in the right gear with the Park City Food & Wine Classic's Mud, Sweat and Cheers event on July 6. Chef Holmquist will lead a scenic lift-serviced mountain bike ride at Deer Valley Resort just steps from the Main Lodge deck where the group will return for a sumptuous lunch prepared by the Chef featuring Fisher Vineyards and David Arthur Vineyards.
Following the fun-filled Food & Wine Classic, Holmquist departs for Ohio on July 21 to participate in the 10th Annual Chef's Garden Food & Wine Celebration alongside Celebrity Chefs from the Food Network, fellow James Bears recipients, Top Chef contestants, and Chopped grand champions. The event benefits the Veggie U Children's Program, a not-for-profit organization, is committed to fostering a synergy between educational, nutritional, and agricultural goals to combat the rising epidemic of childhood obesity.
"My passion for community involvement is as strong as my passion for creating mouthwatering masterpieces," said Holmquist. "I take all the programs I participate in very seriously and am involved in programs I feel truly make a difference."
On August 5, Holmquist will be one of more than 50 of Utah's hottest chefs to gather at Solitude Mountain Resort alongside boutique wineries and craft breweries for an afternoon of spectacular food and drink for the Taste of the Wasatch event. This year 100% of funds raised will benefit three local organizations dedicated to ending hunger in Utah.
Holmquist tops off his yearly volunteering and community outreach efforts with the March of Dimes "Signature Chefs of Utah" Auction on November 17 in Salt Lake City. For the Auction, a selection of top chef's from Utah's finest restaurants present their signature dishes in a tasting format. The unique and fun dining experience, which is held in cities across the nation, has raised more than $130 million for the March of Dimes since the first Signature Chef's Auction was held in 1989.
