This month marks the 10th Anniversary of the 2002 Winter Olympics. Park City began celebrating on February 1 with a concert on Main Street followed by fireworks. The celebration, also the kick-start to the World Cup Event at Deer Valley Resort, brought a crowd out in the pounding snow to cheer and dance. The next morning I had the great fortune to ski the fresh snow with Olympian Heidi Volker at Deer Valley Resort. Just a few hours later I was rooting for Hannah Kearney at the World Cup Individual Mogul event at Deer Valley as she won her 12th consecutive World Cup mogul title.
On the drive back from the former Olympic venue, I realized how alive the Olympic spirit is in Park City. Not only is it the chosen home for the United States Ski and Snowboard Team’s state-of-the-art training facility, The Center of Excellence; athletes travel here to train year-round. The Utah Olympic Park, for example, is a venue that houses the Alf Engen Ski Museum but also serves as a training and competition venue for Bobsled, Skeleton, Aerials and Nordic Ski Jumping.
In addition to providing current athletes with the tools for success, Park City is proud to be the home of retired Olympic athlete, Stein Eriksen. Each day I have the great pleasure of walking past his trophy case in the Main Lodge with Stein’s two Olympic medals predominantly displayed. For the past sixty years, Stein Eriksen has revolutionized the world of alpine skiing and is credited with devising the freestyle event “aerials.”
In celebration of tonight’s World Cup Aerial Events, it is my pleasure to share with you some images of Stein Eriksen.

This weekend I purchased sunscreen for my family on our way out for three hours of cross-country skiing. UV-B rays are just as intense in the winter and spring and can cause serious sunburn, we all should be very careful about being exposed unprotected to the sun for any extended period of time. And reflection from snow increases the risk of damage to your skin.
While I lather sunscreen on every exposed inch of myself and loved ones when we are heading out on the weekends. I realized I have been too complacent with my daily sun protection in recent months. I detest putting smelly facial creams on in the morning.
The solution? This amazing product, Eminences SPF 30 Sun Defense Minerals, which I found at the Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge. The powder is hypoallergenic, easy to apply over my daily non-spf facial cream, loaded with vitamins, and available in six shades for added cosmetic coverage.
