I think we can all agree upon the feelings that a typical spa day elicits. We usually come out feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and calm. But, after my recent visit to the Stein Eriksen Spa in Park City, I came out feeling something more. I felt polished.Starting with the facilities alone, it’s no wonder the Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge is the only Forbes Five Star rated spa in the state of Utah. No stone was left unturned in its design, from the local artwork and the signature lineup of locally sourced spa products, to the relaxation room with views of the Deer Valley mountains. Even the treatment rooms are inspired with the names of Norwegian Gods & Goddesses.
But the ambiance of a day at Stein’s starts even before you open the spa doors. As I made my way through the beautiful hotel lobby, a gentleman asked if he could assist me, and proceeded to escort me through the gardens to the spa. Each flower, plant and shrub seemed to be perfectly in its place, and the striking colors were enough to jumpstart me into the mode of forgetting about my everyday worries.
At the spa, I was encouraged to utilize the relaxation room, pool, sauna, and steam rooms for as long as I wished before or after my treatment. Because the spa’s focus is on total wellness, I was advised to use both the hot and cold plunge pools. Let me tell you, it was not easy to voluntarily immerse myself in the cold water with all of these comfort-emitting features around me, but the therapist was right. Doing so energized my body, right down to the core.
The Vichy Shower
The stimulation of my senses continued as I entered my treatment room, the Vichy rain bar dolling out steam and sound. There are really no words that can describe the sensation of rain falling on your body while being massaged with a scrub of cedar, sage and salt crystals. As the therapist rinsed the solution locally with a stream of hot water that felt like pure silk, my skin began to feel brand new. With the moisturizing lotion rub that came next, I was restored, completely polished.
So, yes, I came out of the Spa at Stein Eriksen Lodge polished. The day both literally and figuratively made me feel like a sparkling new person, and as I left, I was ready to take on whatever the world had in store for me next.
